Richard, a Chartered Governance Professional and a Chartered Director (SA) holds post graduate qualifications in Corporate Law (Wits), Tax Law (RAU) and Corporate Governance (RAU). Richard has held senior leadership positions in Anglo American, Mondi, and Old Mutual during his corporate career, with overall responsibility inter alia for areas such as Corporate Governance, Corporate Secretariat, Risk, Legal Services and Corporate Insurance. Richard has in addition held non-executive directorships/chairmanships in various companies both in South Africa and overseas.
Richard currently operates an independent boutique consultancy specialising in corporate governance advisory services and serves as a professional Independent Non- Executive Director/Chairman on boards.
Richard has been extensively involved in various corporate governance initiatives in the broader business/academic environment both locally and overseas with articles published in various leading international peer reviewed academic law and/or business journals.

Founding/current member of Committee for Responsible Investing in South Africa (CRISA), which inter alia undertook the drafting of the "Code of Responsible Investing in Southern Africa and CRISA 2.
Facilitator for the USB ED (Executive development/Masters programmes).
Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa.
Member of the IoDSA Board Governance Forum (lead author of various Guidance Papers).
