Prieur is one of the most experienced and well-known investment professionals in South Africa. Over the past ten years, he has also established himself as a leading corporate governance specialist. He is chief executive officer of Plexus Holdings, an investment holdings company he founded in 1995, and its division iCRAFT Board Governance Consultants. Additionally, he is professor extraordinaire at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, Honorary Consul General of Slovenia for South Africa, and deputy Dean of the Consular Corps of Cape Town.
He has vast experience of serving as chairman of and director on boards and board committees of public and private companies. Prieur has a solid background in corporate governance, including being one of the few holders of the Chartered Director (South Africa) designation and a recipient of the Certificate in Corporate Governance (International Directors Programme) (INSEAD, France), and having completed the Risk Management for Corporate Leaders course at Harvard Business School. He is the immediate past non-executive chairman of the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA), a newspaper columnist on corporate governance (Business Day and Business Report) and co-author of a chapter on “King IV: Taking corporate governance to the next level”, which appears in Richard Leblanc’s The handbook of board governance: A comprehensive guide for public, private and not-for-profit board members (second edition), New Jersey, John Wiley & Sons, 2019
