Board Simulation Programme

An opportunity for directors to gain experience in a simulated environment on the workings of board committees and a board meeting.

The IoDSA Board Simulation Programme is aimed at providing 12 experienced directors with the opportunity to gain insight into the way in which they interact with fellow directors at Board and Board Committee level. Candidates wishing to participate need to have:

  • at least 3 consecutive years experience serving as a director on a board;
  • attended the four part Being a Director series offered by the IoDSA; and,
  • served as director on at least one of the following board committees:
    • Remuneration; or
    • Social & Ethics; or
    • Audit; or,
    • Nomination

The programme is set up as two days and includes three simulations:

Nominations and Remuneration Committee Simulation


Board Simulation – interrogation of minutes of ARC and Annual Financial Statements (AFS)

Each simulation is observed by technical and behavioural specialists. Feedback is then provided to the team
as well as to each individual on their technical and behavioural performance.

Successful applicants will be required to complete an online Emotional Quotient (EQ) Assessment and the individual reports will be provided to each individual before the commencement date of the programme. One
to one feedback on the assessment will be provided during the two day programme.
