Course Duration:

Half day – 09h00 to 12h30

Key focus areas:

A perception exists that governance is about compliance. Good corporate governance entails much more than compliance and is in the first instance intended to assist and encourage entities to create value and achieve their purpose.

This half day programme on the principles of good corporate governance will assist delegates in enhancing their understanding of the objectives of corporate governance and designing appropriate and effective governance structures within their entities to serve their needs.

It will not only focus on the requirements relating to corporate governance as set out in the Companies Act and King III, but more fundamentally the underlying principles of good corporate governance as set in international best practice, such as by the OECD and the ICGN.

We will focus on:

  • The objective of corporate governance.
  • Benefits of good governance and the price of poor governance.
  • Corporate governance principles and best practice internationally.
  • South African requirements and best practice, at a high level.
  • Practical examples of effective and ineffective governance practices.
