Date: Wednesday, 10 June 2020
Proceedings: 09h00 - 10h00

Speaker
Christopher Palm - Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA)

  • Christopher Palm – Chief Risk Advisor at the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) – is credited with establishing the IRMSA Risk Management Centre of Excellence that focuses on maturing risk management in South Africa. He also initiated the IRMSA South Africa Risk Report, which is in its 6th edition, and is still an integral part of the IRMSA Annual Risk Report working group and serves on the IRMSA Risk Intelligence Committee.
  • These responsibilities enable him to provide up to date technical advice to organisations that recognise risk management as a key component in future-focused decision-making.
  • As a passionate advocate of professional development that supports greater life goals, Chris invests a remarkable amount of time in keeping up to date with the latest in global and local risk management practices.
  • His formal educational background includes a B Com degree (majoring in Accounting, Management Accounting, Commercial Law, Business Economics and Economics), an Honours Degree in Business Economics and Management Accounting, and the completion of the Executive Leadership Development Programme at Wits Business School.
  • One of the highlights of Chris’ career was the implementation of an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programme in one of South Africa’s biggest State-Owned Enterprises. During his 27 years at the SOE he gained an invaluable understanding of world class knowledge, experience and exposure on audit, forensics, risk and resilience and how it is challenged in practice.
  • This understanding underpins his highly practical approach that enables him to see through the intricacies of risk management and provide advice with a unique combination of trusted best practice and innovative leading insights.
