Purpose

The Director Mentoring Circles are aimed at offering aspiring directors and Certified Directors the opportunity to interact with CD(SA)s through an interactive networking session that encourages meaningful engagement and dialogue.

Format

Chartered Directors (SA)® host a table of 5 – 8 Certified Directors or aspiring directors are hosted by a Chartered Director® who facilitates peer conversations addressing challenges and concerns raised by the participants. 

The session is opened by a short guest speaker presentation (20 minutes) about a current topic that could be included in the circle conversations. Participants rotate between different circles every 20 - 30 minutes for an opportunity to engage with different CD(SA)® members.

09:00 - 09:30: Presentation by guest speaker & short Q&A
09:30 - 11:30: Director Mentoring Circles

Alignment to the Director Competence Framework

Certified members earn 2 CPD points towards the 'Director Mentoring' category for participation in this event. Attendees are also intended to develop the personal and social competencies included in the IoDSA Director Competency Framework, namely:

·    PC1: Act in a manner that demonstrates self-knowledge and self-awareness

·    PC2: Manage self in a manner that contributes to the activities of the board

·    SC1: Adapt to environmental needs

·    SC2: Interact with fellow board members and management in a manner that is beneficial to the company
