The Self-Disruptive Leader
Volatile market conditions have forced organisations to evolve rapidly — sometimes frantically — making leadership even more vital to their continued success.
The latest research from the Korn Ferry Institute — which draws on data from over 150,000 leadership profiles, and is validated by the views of nearly 800 investors across 18 markets — reveals that fewer than two in ten corporate leaders have the skills required to take their organizations into the future.
Gail Lumby will share the research, looking at leadership, and more specifically self-disruptive leadership - a new leadership paradigm, which builds on agile, digital and inclusive leadership, which is expected to be critical in the next three to five years.
Digitalisation, globalisation and demographic upheaval are some of the current disruptions that present huge challenges to existing leadership models; not to mention AI, robotics, biotech and environmental crises.
Organisations have to stay one step ahead and navigate their way through the VUCA world; which leads us to the question of HOW to actually do just that? More specifically, how can organisations cultivate a pipeline of leaders who can help lead the way into the unknown future, who can provide energised business direction and continuously reinvent themselves?
The Self-Disruptive leader, comprises five distinctive qualities that enable leaders to bring robust ideas to market rapidly and crucially, to adapt quickly to change by disrupting themselves again and again.
Gail Lumby, Senior Principle, Korn Ferry
With 11 years of consulting experience Gail supports organisations and individuals with navigating the rapidly changing organisational landscape. Her specific focus is on identifying, deploying and managing talent effectively while planning for a succession pipeline catering for roles that currently don’t exist. Within the paradigm of disruption, identifying and developing agile, resilient, inclusive leaders able to deal with a paradox is something about which Gail is passionate. Having worked extensively in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East across sectors, Gail is able to share her insights and experiences along with the extensive thought leadership of Korn Ferry
