Corporate Governance Certificate Programme 2013
Background and purpose of the programmeThe Third King Report on Corporate Governance in South Africa, released in September 2009, attracted worldwide attention. It is considered one of the most inclusive and progressive corporate governance reports in the world.
UJ has joined forces with the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa to present a certificate programme in corporate governance that will assist both listed companies and public enterprises to come to terms with the Third King Report.
A multidisciplinary approach is followed to cover all the important aspects of the Third King Report. Sound academic perspectives are combined with practical experience of corporate governance. Assessment takes place in the form of case studies and a written assessment where participants have to demonstrate both their knowledge and practical skills in corporate governance.
The course consists of two blocks of lectures, a written assessment and case study assignments. A certificate will be awarded to participants who attend all the lectures and successfully complete the assessment and assignments with a final mark of 50% and above.
Please note that the admission requirements for Corporate Governance Certificate is a 3-year degree OR any other EQUIVALENT qualification (eg a National Diploma or BTech degree) on an NQF-6 level in either Law or Accounting.
The programme will be presented on the UJ campus in Auckland Park, Johannesburg.
