Overview

This one day programme is aimed at equipping directors with knowledge, insight and perspective on IT Governance and the risks it may pose for their business. Discussions will focus on the rapidly evolving nature
of technology, the global environment as well as the new challenges it poses for the modern organisation and
its directors. Insights from this intervention will support your journey toward gaining insight into key areas affecting IT governance and its impact on the organisation.

King Code of Governance principles (King III)

  •  Principle 5.1: The board should be responsible for information technology (IT).
  •   Principle 5.2: IT should be aligned with the performance and sustainability objectives of the company.
  •   Principle 5.3: The board should delegate to management the responsibility for the implementation of an
              IT governance framework.
  •   Principle 5.4: The board should monitor and evaluate significant IT investments and expenditures.
  •  Principle 5.5: IT should form an integral part of the company’s risk management. 
  •  Principle 5.6: The board should ensure that information assets are managed effectively.
  •  Principle 5.7: A risk committee and audit committee should assist the board in carrying              
                              out its IT responsibilities.

  • Setting the foundation – an overview of the nature of IT and the rapid advances in technology
  • The ‘Culture at the Top’ – why setting the right tone at the top of the organisation is essential
  • In-depth reviewing of King III (Chapter 5) relating to the 7 IT Governance Principles
  • Aligning strategy from board level to IT technical level
  • Discussing the various methodologies that are applied to achieve IT Governance
  • Discussing key issues involving IT Governance relating to assurance and reporting on IT.
  • Addressing key technology issues and challenges facing organisations as well as topical areas such as disruptive technologies, cloud-computing and cyber-crime.
