IoDSA Executive Leadership Changes
17 July 2014
The IoDSA Board has considered the impact to the organisation of the recently announced developments regarding the update of King III. Traditionally, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the IoDSA has played a dual role by also being responsible for the project management and editing of the King reports during the drafting process. However, due to the growth of the IoDSA since the issuing of King III in 2009 and the high ambitions set for the King III update, the Board has agreed that it was in the interest of the IoDSA that each of these roles receive dedicated focus.
Given inter alia her technical abilities and positioning with key stakeholders the current CEO, Ansie Ramalho, was identified to represent the IoDSA as project manager and editor on the King III update. The IoDSA has enjoyed the benefit of Ansie's leadership and commitment as CEO since 2010 and we look forward to continue to do so as she leads this critical project which will have significant bearing for the IoDSA and the director landscape in South Africa.
As a result of these developments the CEO position has become vacant and it is therefore with pleasure that the Board announces the appointment of Angela Oosthuizen as CEO. Angela will move from her current role as Chief Operating Officer (COO) to take up this appointment, effective from 1st August 2014. The IoDSA Nomination Committee considered and agreed that Angela's institutional knowledge, proven competency and track record and the fact that she enjoys the support and loyalty of IoDSA staff, members and other stakeholders placed her as a suitable candidate and was recommended to the Board and unanimously approved.
In light of the Board's proactive view on succession planning as is best practise, we have been in a fortunate position to implement these leadership changes with agility and confidence.
This announcement coincidentally comes in the month of Angela's 10th anniversary of joining the IoDSA team. She has been a stalwart at the IoDSA and has been instrumental in our success and achievements to date, she lives our values and is passionate about our organisational objectives.
I personally look forward to working with Angela in her new capacity and I am certain you will join me in wishing her well in the new role.
