Fair and Responsible Remuneration

You are invited to join the Remuneration Committee (REMCO) Forum’s Cape Town launch of its latest position paper and round table discussion on fair and responsible remuneration.

Principle 14 of King IV™ provides that “the governing body should ensure that the organisation remunerates fairly, responsibly and transparently…” The remuneration committee has the challenging, but primary responsibility of ensuring that appropriate principles, policies and practices are in place that will result in fair and responsible remuneration. However merely having a compliant remuneration system is not sufficient, the pay outcomes must also be seen to be fair.

The REMCO Forum’s latest paper seeks to address the following questions, which will be addressed at the session:

  • Why should remuneration be fair and responsible?
  • What is fair and responsible remuneration?
  • What factors should be consider in setting the direction for how fair and responsible remuneration is to be achieved?
  • How does the board seek to ensure that remuneration is fair and responsible?·
