Sustainable Development Forum
How do King IV and the global goals connect?
What could (and should) companies be doing to contribute to building more inclusive economies, reducing poverty, increasing universal access to education and health? A year ago the UN launched 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we have our own National Development Plan and the launch of King IV is around the corner. King IV reinforces the expectation that the good governance of organisations means integrating social and environmental issues into the value creation processes.
On September 2, the IoDSA’s Sustainable Development Forum will provide directors and corporate leaders with a useful introduction to the SDGs, and the view from experts about how these will align with King IV and the National Development Plan.
The SDGs provide a 2030 ambition for a sustainable future that can only be achieved if governments and business work together. The SDGs focus on poverty, health, education, protecting the natural environment and reducing inequality. Monitoring and reporting progress are essential to ensuring the ambitions are achieved and that will mean Boards and Executive leaders will need to engage to ensure effective linkages to value creation and good governance.
Join the IoDSA’s Sustainable Development Forum as it discusses the implications of the SDGs, King IV and the NDP for South African directors.
